Regular Season:

The Regular Season will be based on the first 20+ weeks of the NHL regular season.  The number of weeks played in a year may vary from year-to-year depending on how the NHL schedule is setup.

Weeks, for the most part, will start on Sunday, and end on Saturday.

In each week of the Regular Season each team will play a head-to-head matchup vs another team.

The winner of each week (scores the most points) will receive 2 points in the Standings.
The losing team will receive 0 points in the standings.

In the event of a tie, each team will receive 1 point in the Standings.

The standings are ordered by their standings points, with the following list used to break ties:

  1. Wins
  2. Total Player Points
  3. Head-to-head matchup
  4. Points scored in head-to-head matchups.

Teams will be matched up against primarily their divisions.  The standings from one division to another are not relative since divisions are organized based on teams winning history.

At the end of the season the following divisional movements will happen:

  1. 6th in the Howitzer division will be demoted to the Gold division.
  2. 1st in the Gold division will be promoted to the Howitzer division.
  3. 6th in the Gold division will be demoted to the Silver division.
  4. 1st in the Silver division will be promoted to the Gold division.
  5. 6th in the Silver division will be demoted to the Bronze division.
  6. 1st in the Bronze division will be promoted to the Silver division.

Additional teams may be promoted if they meet strict criteria:

If the 2nd team in either the Gold, Silver, or Bronze divisions has more total points (not standings points) than 4 of the teams in the division above them (prior to the changes above), they will be promoted as well, and the 5th team in the division above then will be demoted.

Playoffs:

15 Teams will make the playoffs.

Teams that make the playoffs will be decided based on their position within their division.  The top 5 teams in the Howitzer division, 4 teams from each the Gold and Silver divisions, and the top 2 teams from the Bronze division.

In the event of a tie, the following tie breakers will be used:
Total Points, (Total Points – (Money Man Bonus Points + Home Ice Advantage), Total Season Points

Any teams may trade with any team during the Regular Season prior to the trade deadline.  Teams may NOT make trades after the trade deadline until the off-season (End of the NHL’s Regular Season).

Trades may occur at any time during the off-season.

When a trade is completed one of the teams involved in the trade must send an email to admin@dynastyhockey.net including all other teams involved in the trade on that email.  All other teams must respond to the email confirming the trade.  The trade will not be considered complete until all teams have responded.

Trades must be completed prior to midnight Saturday if they wish to be included in the next week’s lineups.

Trades will be rejected under two conditions:

  1. Suspicion of collusion.

Both of these are critical offences against the league.

Owner Conduct

1)     Payment – Payment will be made a week prior to the entry draft.  The entry fee is $100.00 and I will not be willing to make compromises for people anymore.

2)     Email – All GM’s are expected to respond to emails in a timely fashion (this includes during the off-season).  A timely fashion should mean within 48 hours.  If you are going away or know you will not have access to email for an extended period of time you should make a posting on the forum stating how long you won’t be able to access it.  If you receive an email from another team with a trade offer you are expected to respond to it regardless of if you think it’s insulting or not.  Not responding at all leaves the other team up in the air, and after awhile frustrates them.

3)     Forum – All GM’s are expected to check the Forum regularly (once every 2 days shouldn’t be too much for anyone here).  You are not expected to post or read every thread, but it is required that all members do read and respond to all messages posted by the Evil Eye.  All members are expected to respond to polls posted by the Evil Eye, and post comments regarding proposed changes to the pool.

4)     Draft – Draft day is for all intensive purposes a required attendance.  It’s the one time of year that we get together and do this draft and get to associate directly and I don’t want people to miss it unless it’s absolutely necessary.  I’ll be setting a draft day in the coming weeks and I want every franchise to make every effort to show up at one of the two locations that we setup for the draft.  Obviously some people are too far away to make it, and that’s fine, accessing remotely is the next best thing.  But I’d like to avoid people providing lists or getting other teams to draft for them.

5)     Accountability – All GM’s are accountable to the other GM’s in the league.  GM’s are expected to make it known if they are having a hard time reaching or getting responses from people.

6)     All GM’s are required to produce at least 1 article or something similar for the main page of the website during each season.

Note: Conduct for Email also apply to Private Message system on the forum.
